Roger Cordrey was the first member of the gang to be arrested. A week afterwards, Charlie Wilson is arrested in London. Shortly afterwards, police announce that they are looking for Reynolds, White, James, and Buster Edwards for 'Help With Inquiries'.
A month later, Biggs is taken to Scotland Yard for questioning and ends up in Bedford Prison with Wilson, Wisbey, Hussey and Welch. These arrests were possible because of the large amount of evidence left in the farmhouse. In November, 1963, all five gang members already arrested try to escape by bribing a guard, but this attempt at freedom fails.
The trial for the gang began on 20th January, 1964 at Aylesbury Courthouse, with Justice Edmund Davies. At the trial, Jack Mills, the driver of the train, gives details of the heist, drawing attention to the head injuries that put him out of work for the rest of his life.
Wisbey, Welch, Wilson, James, Hussey, Goody, and Biggs all received sentences between 24 and 30 years each.
Most of the gang were sent to Brixton Pirson except for Biggs, who was sent to Wandsworth, South London, and Wilson, who was sent to Winson Green. Wilson escaped from prison on August 12, 1964 with help from 3 strangers.
In 1968 Reynolds, Wilson and White were arrested. Eventually Buster Edwards gives himself up to police as well.
Roger Cordrey was the only gang member to plead guilty and return his share of the money, £80,000.
